About Us

Uniquities is a women’s designer boutique started in Chapel Hill, NC in 1992 by entrepreneur Julie Jennings.

"I sold books door to door when I was in college and was able to save enough money to travel around the world for a year with a backpack and a camera. When I returned to the US, I started my first business designing and importing accessories from Turkey.

After a fire  destroyed our warehouse and simply wanting to see more of the country, I moved south to Chapel Hill, NC.

It was in 1992 that I started Uniquities. I knew no one in North Carolina but somehow I managed to find an empty storefront on West Franklin St, buy some inventory and set up shop. A ton of hard work, resilience and grit have led me to where I am today with five locations in North Carolina, ownership of the building that I found empty back in the summer of 1992 and leading a team of strong, smart women and one man to bring amazing clothing, accessories and style to this little part of heaven.

At Uniquities, we love curating the pieces you’ll actually want to wear — think perfectly broken-in denim, go-with-everything tees, shoes that turn heads, and those “just can’t leave without it” accessories and jewelry. Our mix of fashion-forward finds, everyday staples, and little somethings special is what keeps our community coming back season after season. And because style should feel effortless, we’re here with personal shopping, wish lists, gift wrapping, and even home delivery—making it easy (and fun!) to find what you love."
